SMM designs and manufactures the cooling beds, which are used for having straight and uniformly cooled bars and sections, in different types and dimensions according to customers requirements.
Since rake type cooling beds give best results for optimum cooling this system is generally used in our designs.In this system the rolled materials are conveyed step by step on fixed rakes by the walking beam action of moving rakes. In round bar and small section rolling mills the hot rolled materials are first cooled of on cast iron rakes for improved straightening effect.
All of our cooling beds are designed to minimize the thermal stresses and distortions, and especially in long cooling beds the critical parts are cooled with water. |
